After a successful beta testing period, we have opened the doors for all! If you have not signed up yet, please go for it and let us know what you think.
Now is the time to send everyone you know to https://pdap.io. We rely on our community to spread the word!
You can feel free to use or modify this message as a starting point:
Check out this police transparency project: https://pdap.io. When you “follow” a location, they prioritize data collection in that area. Plus, every follower and donor shows that the work is impactful and worthwhile. Please help them build momentum!
There's a full press release here with more background, for your journalistic friends.
Our new data labeling workflow is focused on getting as many new sources into the database as possible, using "batches" to focus work on specific areas and break up our huge national project into human-sized chunks of work. Volunteers report that it is a satisfying, interesting way to spend an hour! To help out, start with this form.
We have released a map of our progress on the homepage, illustrating the work we have done so far—and the gaps in our data landscape. You can drill down into searches and Follow right from the map, too. Check it out!
As we leave our startup phase, it is critical that we make small-dollar recurring donations our largest source of funding. Big-donor money helped us through our early years, and will get us through 2025, but without community buy-in we will not get more.
Even $1 a month moves the needle, because it represents someone who believes in our mission. If police transparency is important to you, consider donating today!
